This year will be our 7 th SFN, and it got me thinking about how this all started….
I love community and the idea of sharing amongst your peers. When it comes to food and diets, I am always conscious of the social impact of putting someone on a restrictive diet. Will they be able to eat with their family? Can they go out to a dinner with friends? Being able to connect over a meal is an important pillar in our society.
But the challenge is that we often have unhealthy habits and building new, healthy habits is life giving. So, how do we promote positive change?
Originally, our SFN challenge was offered through a private FB chat group where we shared tips, tricks, recipes and challenges together. It was a lovely group building experience as we shared in the highs and lows of eliminating sugar for an entire month.
Over the years, things evolved as we offered meal planning support to fully prepared meals that were all met with sugar-free criteria in mind.
This year, we want to help build community while helping to build some healthy habits. It takes more than just willpower to make a change. Having a plan, support, and people to keep us accountable all help to build sustainable positive changes that can have a lasting impact.
Having purpose and goals are essential to our mental health and wellbeing, but often, initiating change is where people can get stuck.
So, we hope you will engage with us this month and let us encourage you to make small, healthy changes that show you how easy change can be. Choose a goal that resonates, and let us know what you’re doing so we can support you.
