There are hundreds of specific homeopathic remedies that can be used in acute first aid situations. The medicines below are only a few popular “go-to” remedies that are useful to have on hand during the summer months. However, if you do not see improvement, it is always best to see a homeopath for more individualized care.
#1 First-Aid Remedy: ARNICA MONTANA 30C
This remedy is for any injury and shock. It will help reduce pain, stop bleeding, and aid tissue repair.
Key Indications
- Shock and trauma from an injury
- Bruising and hemorrhaging
- Muscle aches from overexertion
- Post-op care (ex. Wisdom teeth removal)
- Head injuries
- Sensation: Bruised and sore feeling
Arnica also comes in a cream or ointment. It can be used on “closed wounds” such as bruises, strained muscles, and sprains.
Wound Care: CALENDULA cream or Mother Tincture
Calendula is for topical use when there is an “open wound”. The cream can be applied directly to any cut or abrasion. The tincture should be diluted (10 drops/1 cup water) and is wonderful for cleaning wounds or soaking puncture wounds.
Key Indications:
- For cuts, abrasions, slow healing wounds, infected cuts with pus
- Soothes anal tears and stitches and reduces chance of scarring
- Anti-septic properties
Stings and Bites
In serious reactions to bites and stings always seek appropriate medical care. For more minor reactions consider the following remedies:
- ARNICA 30C: For shock and when the bite or sting is sore “as if beaten”.
- LEDUM 30C: When the bite or sting feels cold and numb, inflamed and swollen, and is better for ice or worse when heated.
- APIS 30C: When there is stinging and burning pain, quick swelling, the bite feels hot, is worse from touch and heat or better for ice.
