First of all, I want to say ‘thank you’.
The past several months have been a whirlwind of events. From the unfortunate closing of Urban Wellness, to my temporary location in Waterloo, and finally my new home back in Kitchener – I am happy to take a step back, and take a deep breath in.
These last few months have been the farthest thing from balance for me. Balance – oh the journey! With several late nights, and fitful sleeps – full disclosure: melted cheese on tortillas with salsa have been my best friend over the last couple of months. But thankfully, I’m getting back on track.
There are highs and lows in everyone’s life. Sometimes that roller coaster flips from good to bad so quickly, and other times, we can get caught in up or down, for months on end. But as with all things in this world, nothing is stagnant. With all this change, I’ve had to really practice what I preach on a different level. The struggle is real – from exercise, to food prep, to deep breathing, and stress management. But the basics are The Basics, for a reason and keeping that in check has helped my body immensely. For my brain, I’ve been focusing on having a little more gratitude.
Gratitude: the quality of being thankful; a readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
There is so much in this life to be grateful for. I’ve got an amazing support group of friends and family. I am so thankful to have a job that I genuinely love. Legit, I laugh and learn from my patients every day. I’m healthy. Life is good.
Some days it’s hard to keep that in focus. To actually engage with my own “happiness”. But I am a firm believer in that what you put out there, you will get back. And so, I’ve got to practice what I preach and put out the good and be thankful for what I get back.
So thank you! Thank you to all my support people. Thank you to my patients for being awesome. Thank you to my amazing work team. Thank you for this day.
And with that gratitude in mind, I want to spread my gratitude in person – so join us for our open house on Thurs Oct 29 from 5-8. Drop by, say hello, and let me express my thanks face to face.
With gratitude
